    The general objective of the undergraduate program Geography of Tourism is given by the assimilation of complex knowledge of geography with applications in the geography of tourism and its perspectives both nationally and internationally.

    Tourism is a component, but also a result of the entire economic activity and can positively influence the local economic activity which itself creates favorable conditions for the development of tourism.

    The disciplines studied in this study program are very topical, they benefit from specialized university staff in the country and abroad, but also from collaborations with various partners - from renowned travel agencies to public institutions. They are in fact the future employers of graduates. We are proud of our former students on both the national and international tourism market in all its forms.

      a) Knowledge

      • Knowledge and ability to explain the main notions, laws, processes and geographical phenomena, understanding their genesis and evolution
      • Understanding how each component of the geographic environment is involved in the tourism industries
      • Knowledge of the characteristics of tourist heritage resources, their evaluation methodology and the ways to capitalize on them
      • Knowledge and understanding of the tourism market, its functioning mechanisms and the factors that influence it

      • Explanation and argumentation of the proposed solutions based on the results of the analysis of data and information from different sources and with heterogeneous characteristics

      • Understanding the logical succession of the stages of carrying out tourist activities and actions
      • Knowledge of methods and techniques for promoting national and international heritage
      • Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of tourism products, their management and their marketing techniques

      b) Thebility

      • Assessing the impact of geographical processes and phonemes on the natural, social and anthropogenic environment
      • Use of complex methods and techniques for assessing the resources of natural and built heritage in order to make the best use of them in the given socio-economic and political conditions
      • Collection of field data using specific methods and equipment, creation of related databases and their management through ICT and database-specific techniques, subsequently exploited statistically
      • Use of research methods in the social sciences in order to complete the analysis carried out by geographical research methods
      • Graphic and cartographic rendering using GIS methods of general and tourist processes, phenomena and geographical reality in particular
      • Synthesis of empirical information, theoretical research and field data expressed in the form of scientific research
      • Transfer of the evaluation of the patrimonial resources and of the tourist market in the sphere of the concrete capitalization through the conception of offers and tourist products
      • Applying the principles of multi- and interdisciplinarity, in approaching the field of geography.

      • Applying efficient and responsible work strategies, based on the principles, norms and values ​​of the code of professional ethics.

    Description of the exam test (s)

    UVT language and reasoning skills assessment test.

    Details regarding the admission steps

      The general average of the Baccalaureate exam x 50% + the UVT test for assessing language skills and reasoning x 50%, to which bonuses are added according to the conditions listed below.

      Students who obtained during the high school studies distinctions (prizes I, II, III, mention) at the international school olympiads recognized by the Ministry of Education - they have the right to enroll in the undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology, Geography, without the support of the admission contest, on places financed from the state budget.

      Candidates who have obtained, in one of the last four years, the I, II, III places and those who have obtained the special prize or mention at the national phases of the Geography Olympiads and disciplines in the field of Earth Sciences, at the Environmental Protection Olympiad, at the National Olympics of scientific creativity, or who have won prizes I, II and III in the national phase of the "Geomondis" competition and in the national phase of the National Competition for scientific communications of high school students, will receive a bonus of 2,0 points on average admittance.

      Candidates who have obtained, in one of the last four years, the first, second and third prizes in the county phase of the Geography Olympiad, as well as the first place in the regional phase of the "Geomondis" contest, will receive a bonus of 1,0 point on average admission.

    Candidates who passed the baccalaureate exam in the sessions corresponding to the 2022-2023 school year can upload to the admission platform and present at the collection points of the documents required for the admission process in the UVT offices and in the county admission centers organized by UVT, for the admission session immediately following the session in which they passed the baccalaureate exam, instead of the baccalaureate diploma, the certificate issued by the pre-university education unit in the original or a legalized copy, which mentions the general average from the baccalaureate exam, the grades obtained to the tests taken at this exam, the validity period and the fact that the diploma has not been issued.

    5. Medical certificate issued by the family doctor, not older than 90 days from the date of its presentation at the document collection office, attesting whether the candidate is fit to enroll in university studies and, if applicable, , chronic conditions from which the candidate suffers (neuropsychiatric, psycho-pathological, pulmonary, dermato-venereal, disability (type, degree), etc.). Specific learning disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, etc.) or any special educational requirements will be attested by a diagnostic certificate;

    6. Certificate certifying completion of another undergraduate university study program (completed or not at the time of submitting the file), in which the funding regime in which each year of studies was completed (with funding from the state budget/ with a fee, if it is/was carried out at a state higher education institution in Romania) – if appropriate.

    Candidates who are Romanian citizens or from Member States of the European Union, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation who have completed high school studies outside Romania must present, in addition to the above documents, the document of equivalence / recognition of studies issued by National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED). The necessary documents and the procedure for equating the studies carried out outside Romania are mentioned in Annex 1 of the Admission Regulation.

    In order to be admitted to the undergraduate study programs with teaching in Romanian, foreign citizens who do not present study certificates issued by educational units / institutions in Romania or abroad, with teaching in Romanian, have the obligation to present a certificate of competence linguistics for the Romanian language issued by institutions authorized by the Ministry of Education.

    After the end of the registration period, the options, their order as well as other information from the file registered on the online admission platform cannot be changed.

    The undergraduate program Geography of Tourism is designed with the involvement of representatives of the non-academic environment, the socio-economic environment and the labor market. Thus, every year the Career Day is organized when meetings are held with representatives of the main tourism companies in Timișoara, Timișoata City Hall, County Council, companies interested in practitioners with skills acquired by students of the undergraduate program Geography of Tourism . They offer the possibility to recruit students both from the perspective of part-time jobs, but also from volunteer actions. Thus, we are proud that the students of the Geography of Tourism study program are the owners of important tourism companies in Timisoara such as Booktravel or hotel managers in Santorini Island, Cayman Islands- Marriott Beach Resort, Cyprus or flight staff at various companies aviation - from pilots to flight crew, but also employees of many local, national, international tourism companies, tourist guides, but also academics or teachers.
