    The Master's program in Graphic Arts offers the opportunity for in-depth study and specialization, addressing both graduates with a bachelor's degree in graphic arts and those interested in this field. It encourages the integration of artistic endeavors in a contemporary context, marked by the dynamic interaction between art and technology. In an artistic landscape increasingly influenced by digital media, the program promotes a balanced development of the creative and research process, based on the complementarity between traditional and digital techniques.

    By capitalizing on the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired previously and during their master's studies, students can consolidate and orient their professional training, choosing disciplines related to applied graphics and free expression graphics - two complementary components of the field of graphic arts.

    The first training path includes the design and production of advertising and promotional products (in classic or digital format), books and book illustrations, whether it is an author's book, an artist's book or an object book. The final goal of this training is to train specialists capable of designing and executing a poster prototype (political, social, cultural, touristic, etc.), promotional materials, book illustration and bookbinding, the object book as an expression of artistic expression, DTP and prepress, etc.

    The second formative path aims at the creative dimension of free expression graphics, in which concepts and techniques connected to contemporary art trends are investigated, cultivated and capitalized on. An essential role in discovering and shaping a personal, coherent and innovative artistic approach is played by the experimentation and exploration of various graphic media – traditional and digital –, such as drawing, engraving, animation, digital graphics, photography, unconventional graphic forms and their extension in space.

    The ability to develop artistic projects at an advanced qualitative level, along with the clear and well-argued expression of results, through dedicated courses such as Promotion, Branding and Entrepreneurship in the Visual Arts and Contemporary Art, provides graduates with a solid framework for a coherent and relevant reporting on the contemporary art scene, while also opening up new directions for deepening artistic research within doctoral studies.

    Description of the exam test (s)

    Test 1: Practical skills test - eliminatory (physical, at the faculty headquarters)

    PRESENTATION / PORTFOLIO

    The portfolio will contain a photographic documentation of the representative personal works (20-25 images) and a CV of the candidate.

    For graduates of undergraduate programs related to the undergraduate fields of Visual Arts or Architecture, test 1 is equivalent to passing the bachelor's degree exam.

    The candidate's concerns, skills, and knowledge in the area of ​​specialization of the master's degree program for which they are applying will be evaluated.

    The eliminatory test is considered admitted / rejected.

    Test 2: Exam test - interview (physically, at the faculty)

    PRESENTATION AND DEFENSE OF THE MASTER'S PROJECT

    The test consists of supporting a personal research project or artistic creation, specific to the study program. The project will contain 5-15 pages, including text, sketches, images.

    The examination test is taken orally before the examination board and is graded with notes from 1 to 10.

    List of required documents

    (1) The documents required for the enrollment file for the master's degree programs within the Faculty of Arts and Design are the following:

    1. ID card;
    2. Birth certificate - for UVT graduates of undergraduate studies who were admitted to undergraduate studies starting in 2020, it is not mandatory, and can be taken from the existing file for the undergraduate studies cycle, except in the case where the candidate has been issued another birth certificate since that time;
    3. Marriage certificate - if appropriate;
    4. Bachelor's degree or diploma equivalent to it, accompanied by the supplement to the diploma, or certificate of completion of undergraduate university studies, accompanied by the transcript, for candidates who graduated from undergraduate university studies in the current year; UVT graduates of undergraduate studies in the current year do not need to upload the certificate of completion of undergraduate studies and the transcript on the admission platform in order to apply for master's studies in the same year, the results of the final examination of undergraduate studies , respectively the average of the years of undergraduate university studies, being taken over in the candidate's file directly by the admission committees of the UVT faculties;
    5. Medical certificate issued by the family doctor or from a student medical office, no older than 90 days from the date of its presentation at the document collection office, attesting whether the candidate is fit to enroll in university studies and, if applicable, the chronic conditions from which the candidate suffers (neuropsychiatric, psycho-pathological, pulmonary, dermato-venereal, disability (type, degree) etc.). Specific learning disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia etc.) or possible special educational requirements will be attested by a diagnostic certificate;
    6. Certificate certifying completion of another master's university study program (completed or not at the time of submission of the file), in which the funding regime in which each year of studies was completed (with funding from the state budget/with a fee) , if it is/was carried out at a state higher education institution in Romania) and, if applicable, the years and semesters of studies in which the student benefited from the scholarship, respectively its type - if appropriate.

    Candidates will be required to submit all documents required for the admission process, in accordance with the provisions of the regulations on the organization and conduct of the admission process at the faculty level, in original or certified copy, until until the day of the first mock test, according to the calendar established by the faculty regulations regarding the organization and development of the admission process, at the points of taking over the admission documents from the UVT headquarters or from the county admission centers organized by UVT, for scanning and certifying them according to the original by UVT operators. Candidates who do not comply with this provision will not be included in the ranking of the admission process.

    Accommodation policy

    Student accommodation in dormitories owned by the West University of Timișoara is carried out in accordance with the UVT Dormitory Accommodation Regulations, within the limit of available places allocated to each faculty.

    Students enrolled in the full-time form of education, who are following the respective university study cycle (bachelor's, master's or doctorate) for the first time, can benefit from accommodation. Students following a second university study program in the same university study cycle can benefit from accommodation only if there are places available after the accommodation of students who are following the respective university study cycle for the first time. Students with permanent residence in Timișoara or in peri-urban localities with public transport to the city cannot benefit from accommodation in UVT dormitories.

    For first-year students, the distribution of accommodation places in UVT dormitories allocated to this category of students is done in descending order of the score calculated based on the admission average and extracurricular activities or taking into account social criteria, where applicable, in accordance with the provisions of the UVT Dormitory Accommodation Regulations. Disadvantaged students, students from placement centers or students with disabilities are given priority in the distribution of accommodation places.

    To enter the process of allocating an accommodation place in a UVT dormitory, students will have to submit an application to this effect on a dedicated digital platform, after completing the admission process. Students will be informed through the institutional e-mail addresses they will receive after completing the admission process about the calendar and the method of submitting the application to enter the accommodation place allocation process.

    When completing the application on the online accommodation platform, students are encouraged to select all available dormitory options for their faculty, to maximize their chances of obtaining a place. Notifications regarding the allocation of accommodation places are sent both by email and to the account on the accommodation platform.

    UVT has several student dormitories, some located in the Student Complex in Timișoara (C12, C13, C15, C16, C17, Drept Dormitory, Piața Sf. Petru Dormitory) and others outside it (C3 dormitory, Camelia dormitory), all equipped with internet and cable TV connection, washing machines, dryers and kitchens.

    International study / practice mobility opportunities

    Students of the Faculty of Arts and Design can benefit from study and placement mobility in partner faculties from countries across Europe such as: Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Serbia, Turkey, Finland.

    Students of the West University of Timișoara have access to international mobility opportunities and internships, managed by the International Relations Department (DRI) of UVT.

    The main internationalization program is Erasmus+, through which students can carry out study mobilities (one semester or one academic year, within the limit of 12 months/study cycle) or internship mobilities at partner institutions throughout Europe, benefiting from monthly grants to support their academic activity in the partner countries. The credits accumulated during the mobility period abroad are recognized upon return based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). To participate, the student must have a weighted average of at least 7,00, be a full-time student at the time of departure and have knowledge of a foreign language at a minimum level of B1.

    UVT students also have various short-term internal or international mobility opportunities available, such as Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP), lasting between 5 and 30 days, as well as virtual mobility opportunities.

    In addition to Erasmus+, students can also access international opportunities through other programs, including CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Program for University Studies) or those managed by the University Agency of Francophonie (AUF), the Romanian-American Fulbright Commission or the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

    Furthermore, UVT is a member of the European Alliance UNITA (supported by the European Commission within the European University initiative), together with 12 universities from Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Ukraine and Romania. Membership in UNITA represents a context in which UVT students will have access to unique opportunities at national and European level for professional and personal development (virtual international mobilities, international internship programs in rural areas, training courses, projects with and for students, competitions for students in topical areas: Cultural Heritage, Renewable Energies, Circular Economy, Intercomprehension as a form of communication, European Citizenship).
