Founded in 1961 under the name of the Pedagogical Music Institute (3 years), the Faculty of Music and Theater has been operating in its current form since 1990, as one of the 11 faculties of the West University of Timişoara.
The mission of the Faculty of Music and Theatre is cultural, scientific and educational. Through highly qualified teaching staff and an attractive curriculum, the faculty trains specialists in the fields of musical and theatrical performance, as well as in the fields of research and teaching.
The Faculty of Music and Theatre offers high school graduates with a baccalaureate diploma, respectively college graduates, five undergraduate university study programs: Musical Performance - Instruments, Musical Performance - Singing, Music, Performing Arts (Acting) and Performing Arts (Acting) (German language), as well as the Master of Music - Instrumental Performance, Master of Music - Vocal Performance, Master of Music - Choral Conducting and Theater Performing Arts university study programs.
1. Identity card / bulletin;
2. Birth certificate;
3. Marriage certificate - if applicable;
4. Baccalaureate diploma or equivalent;
o Candidates who passed the baccalaureate exam in the sessions corresponding to the 2025-2026 school year can upload to the admission platform and present at the collection points the documents necessary for the admission process from the UVT offices and from the county admission centers organized by the UVT, for the session of admission immediately following the session in which they passed the baccalaureate exam, instead of the baccalaureate diploma, the certificate issued by the pre-university education unit in the original or a legalized copy, which mentions the general average from the baccalaureate exam, the grades obtained in the tests taken at this exam, the validity period and the fact that the diploma has not been issued.
5. Medical certificate issued by the family doctor, the doctor from the school medical office or from a student medical office, no older than 90 days from the date of its presentation at the document collection office, attesting whether the candidate is fit to enroll in university studies and, if applicable, the chronic conditions from which the candidate suffers (neuropsychiatric, psycho-pathological, pulmonary, dermato-venereal, handicap (type, degree) etc.). Specific learning disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia etc.) or possible special educational requirements will be attested by a diagnostic certificate;
6. Certificate certifying completion of another undergraduate university study program (completed or not at the time of submitting the file), in which the funding regime in which each year of studies was completed (with funding from the state budget/ with fee, if it is/was carried out at a state higher education institution in Romania) and, if applicable, the years and semesters of studies in which the student benefited from the scholarship, respectively its type - if applicable.
(2) Candidates who are Romanian citizens or citizens of European Union member states,
from the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation, as well as British citizens and their family members, as beneficiaries of the Agreement on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community 2019/C 384 I/01 (British citizens who are in Romania and continue to reside on the territory of Romania after the end of the transition period of the withdrawal process of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union, established in accordance with Article 126 of the Withdrawal Agreement for 31 December 2020, their family members who accompany them or who join them after the end of the transition period if they had the status of family members before its end, as well as children born or adopted after the end of the transition period, provided that proof of registration from the General Inspectorate of Immigration within the Ministry Internal Affairs), who completed their high school studies outside Romania, as well as
Those who hold study documents issued by education providers that provide pre-university education activities based on a curriculum of another state, on the territory of Romania, must present, in addition to the above documents, the equivalence/recognition document of studies issued by the National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED). In the case of recognition documents issued online by the specialized departments within the Ministry of Education and Research, these are uploaded in electronic format to the admission platform by the candidate, within the deadline established for registration by the own regulation regarding the organization and conduct of the admission process at the level of each faculty, and do not require certification according to the original by UVT operators. The necessary documents and the procedure for the equivalence of studies carried out in
outside Romania are mentioned in Annex 2 of the Regulations of the West University of Timișoara (UVT) regarding the organization and conduct of the admission process for
university study programs at the undergraduate level.
(3) Documents required for candidates applying for positions intended for
Romanian citizens everywhere are mentioned in Annex 3 of the Regulation

(4) Candidates eligible for exemption from the registration fee, according to Article 19 of the

(6) For admission to undergraduate university study programs taught in
Romanian language, candidates who do not hold Romanian citizenship and who do not present Romanian study documents (diplomas and certificates) issued following the graduation of study programs taught in Romanian or study documents/school situations attesting to at least three years of consecutive studies followed in Romanian issued by school units/higher education institutions from the national system in Romania or abroad, are required to present a certificate/attestation of linguistic competence for the Romanian language of minimum level B1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, issued by the pre-university education units organizing the introductory course in Romanian, by the accredited higher education institutions in Romania organizing the Romanian language preparatory program for foreign citizens, regardless of the field studied, by the lecturers of Romanian language, literature, culture and civilization in higher education institutions abroad, by the Romanian Language Institute or the Romanian Cultural Institute.
(7) For students who took the baccalaureate exam in Romania and who attended
high school studies in an international language or a minority language
national, the certification of linguistic skills in oral communication in Romanian is done with the baccalaureate diploma, issued by authorized/accredited educational institutions in Romania.
*Romanians everywhere = people who freely assume the Romanian cultural identity, people of Romanian origin and those belonging to the Romanian linguistic and cultural lineage who live outside the borders of Romania, regardless of the ethnonym used, as well as Romanian emigrants, whether or not they have retained Romanian citizenship, their descendants and Romanian citizens with permanent domicile or residence abroad.
Documents required for admission university studies of master's degree:
1. Identity card / bulletin;
2. Birth certificate - for UVT graduates of undergraduate studies who were admitted to undergraduate studies starting in 2020, it is not mandatory, and can be taken from the existing file for the undergraduate studies cycle, except in the case where the candidate has been issued another birth certificate since that time;
3. Marriage certificate - if applicable;
4. Bachelor's degree or equivalent diploma, accompanied by the supplement to
diploma, or certificate of completion of undergraduate university studies, accompanied by
transcript, for candidates who graduated from undergraduate studies in the current year; UVT graduates of undergraduate studies in the current year do not have to upload the certificate of graduation from undergraduate studies and the transcript on the admission platform in order to register for master's studies in the same year, the results of the undergraduate final exam, respectively the average of the years of undergraduate studies, being taken over in the candidate's file directly by the admission committees of UVT faculties;

7. Research project (2-4 pages) in which the candidate briefly presents the topic they are
proposes it for the period of the two years of university studies for the master's degree, if admitted (for example: Sonata for violin and piano in the creation of 20th century composers), motivating the choice of the respective theme, the concrete works proposed for study, a brief analysis of them and a possible structure of the final work, for candidates who enroll in the university study programs of Master in Music - Instrumental Interpretation and Master in Music - Choral Conducting (details in Chapter III of these regulations) / Motivational essay (1-2 pages) which will form the basis of the interview test for candidates enrolled in the university study program of Master in Music - Vocal Interpretation, in which they will specify their study intentions for the period of the master's degree, the related repertoire (preferred genre - opera/lied-oratorio,
composers, works proposed for study), a possible path of a future
careers in the field.
(2) Candidates who are Romanian citizens or citizens of European Union member states,
